| Knee-high
by the Fourth of July…or so it goes.
Summer is officially in full force during
the steamy month of July, offering us a rich
bounty of ripe, fresh-off-the vine produce
in no comparison whatsoever to the grocery
store standards, whose flavors become lost
under florescent lighting and climate controlled
aisles. I’d been waiting patiently all
spring for my spinach and mesclun greens to
pop out of the dirt, and what a thrill it
is to finally savor the sun-ripened taste
of summer. July’s classes will show
you how to make the most of these fruits and
vegetables in several sessions, featuring
grilled roasted pepper and sausage pizzas,
grilled zucchini and asparagus fajitas, berry
summer pudding, sesame basil sugar snaps,
and the list goes on. Real homegrown produce
is definitely my favorite part of summer cuisine!
Eat up while the growing season is upon us. |
