Joe Bushnell
Joe has been working in the world of sugar art for 9 years.
He began his tenure at Sweet Celebrations in Basic Cake Decorating, Intermediate Cake Decorating, Gumpaste Flowers, Rolled Fondant and Truffle classes. Learning this was a hidden talent, he then went to New York City for private lessons under Scott Clark Woolley at the Academy of Cake Art.
He has also taken classes from Susan O’Boyle-Jacobson, Laure’l Silverberg, Geraldine Randlesome, Ewald Notter and Nicholas Lodge to expand his ability to teach and make sugar art. He has competed at the Omaha Sugar Art Show, (winning 1st Place) and the Tulsa Sugar Art Show, (winning 3rd Place) in Foreign Techniques in the Professional Division.
He has taught at ISAAC, (Atlanta, GA), Cake Craft Shoppe, (Houston, TX), six classes at Dakota County College, a class at the Minneapolis Community Technical College, twenty culinary arts instructors at Grinnell College in IA (The Basics of Cake Decorating), has done demonstrations of his work in MN, IA, MO, WI, NE and SD and most recently has judged cake shows for the Minnesota Baker’s Association and the IA State Fair.
